Action at Pakistani TV channel

Activists work in difficult conditions

Women Empowerment Organization in Pakistan carried out campaigns during the week in action of ATT to inform the government to protect the lives of citizens by controlling the arms trade and its related violence.
Activists went to AVT Khyber (a TV Channel) in Islamabad, where despite strict security they convinced staff to participate in the week of action and were allowed to put up a "World is Watching" banner in their newsroom. The banner appeared in the background of some news broadcasts.

The activists also took attempted to take pictures of the banner by the parliament house, foreign office, and embassies which are all situated in one area of Islamabad around the Constitution Avenue and Diplomatic Enclave, but unfortunately were prevented from doing so due to security alerts. As a last resort, they took pictures behind the Prime Ministers Secretariat, without including the building near the embassies (Diplomatic Enclave) with the permission of security personnel, who also delivered our written message to the officials of the PM secretariat.

The newspaper 'Subah' has also mentioned our activity in Islamabad. We carried out this campaign with the hope that our government will respond to it.
