Control Arms Global Day of Action!
Control Arms Global Day of Action! On the 13th September campaigners in 42 countries organised activities aimed at putting pressure on their governments to support the Arms Trade Treaty resolution at the UN in October. The key message to these governments was the need for the resolution to be strengthened to include references to international humanitarian law, human rights and sustainable development. The Global Day of Action built upon the previous 100 Days of Action, and even more campaigning and lobbying activities are planned in the lead up to the UN General Assembly. Read more.
United Nations Small Arms Review Conference

The 2006 Review Conference will be the first time in five years that world leaders have come together to review progress made in the implementation of the United Nations Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons. This programme was unanimously adopted by UN member states back in 2001 and the Review Conference is part of the follow-up process, involving delegates from member states and representatives from civil society organisations, including Amnesty International, IANSA and Oxfam.

The Review Conference is a great opportunity for governments to agree standards to regulate the arms trade.

You can follow the conference from our special blog where Control Arm campaigners will give you the latest news in special reports, interviews and video.
