The Campaign for a Bulletproof Arms Trade Treaty

The “Speak Out! Control Arms Now” campaign, led by the Control Arms coalition, aims to make sure the treaty is one that stops the killing by preventing weapons being used for abuses or atrocities.

It’s been proven that pressure works. It was the Control Arms coalition that prompted the start of treaty-related discussions in 2006. Six years later, we need your support to make the treaty a reality. If we fail, then weapons will continue to fall into the hands of mass murderers, militias, and mafias. Starting 26 March, we are counting down 100 days until the treaty negotiations open in July. The time to act is NOW.

The 100 Days of Speaking Out!  is a countdown to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) negotiations, which will take place at the United Nations from 2-27 July 2012.

Control Arms members and partners have been campaigning for a bulletproof ATT for many years. The less than four months before negotiations are our last chance to make sure that governments hear the strong, diverse and global call for an humanitarian and effective ATT.  Now more than ever, we need to speak out! This countdown is how we will do it.

We are encouraging all members, supporters and partners to mobilize in this period for one last push! After signing the petition, read the Action Alert for specific ideas on how you be a part of this historic effort.
